Paid Job Opportunity: IRONWORKERS: 2-week Rebar Bootcamp & Training

Do you want a well paying job for the summer

Do you envision an opportunity to work in the trades?

Ironworkers Local 97 would like to invite High School students who are 16 years of age and older, who are interested in the trades, to participate in a 2-week Rebar Bootcamp this summer with the option of gaining employment!

What is an Ironworker and what will participants learn?

Ironworkers install rebar or reinforcing steel and structural steel to create the skeleton of a building, bridge, dams, etc.  All the concrete high rises out there have rebar grids or cages inside the concrete to give the building strength and shape.  This is what we would like to teach the students to start.  This bootcamp is made for new people who have never done rebar before so no need to worry as everyone will be at the same level. The instructor will teach everyone how to properly carry rebar, tie rebar, and build floor slabs, columns, and walls.  We will also give the students safety training, which includes CSTS 2020, WHIMIS, and Fall Protection training.”

Details:

Dates:

  • July 10th to 21st, 2023.

Time and location:

  • The Rebar Bootcamp will run Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm at the Ironworkers Union Hall, 20135 115A Avenue, Maple Ridge.  The students will need to be able to get here every day on time.

Considerations of employment
