The
CWB Welding Foundation is planning an event to promote welding careers to
students. The event is scheduled for February 26 at BCIT from approximately
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Here are some ideas that we are considering:
• Career opportunities in welding industry
• Presentation by former welding students who are now working in the industry as welders, inspector, supervisors, etc.
• Foundation programs in support of schools
• Welding simulator competitions
• May include some welding simulation competitions, etc.
At this time we are trying to figure out how many schools/students would be interested in participating. The college has room for 100 students. Bus transportation will be arranged for the students and lunch provided, as well as a possible tour of the BCIT skill trades lab facilities. Technology teachers and administrators, including guidance counsellors are welcome. Over 200 students participated in this event, and their involvement was very encouraging to say the least.
