The ideal candidate for the Geotechnical Engineering Student position should be interested in the fields of geotechnical engineering, geology and mining engineering. Through this placement, the Student will develop an understanding of working in a professional environment, will gain exposure to Teck’s mine design strategy and how it is applied and implemented within Teck’s projects and operations. 

Reporting to the Principal Geotechnical Engineer, the Student is responsible for the implementation of Teck’s mine design strategy to mine projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Implement Teck’s mine design strategy to mine projects

Qualifications:
  • Organized, quick learner and punctual.
  • Attention to detail and can work independently.
  • Interested in learning about the various aspects of the mining industry and the environmental and/or safety fields.
  • Preference will be given to those students considering course work in Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Geology
  • Ability to use Internet Explorer.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint would be an asset.
