Summer Camp Leaders are required for various summer camps including programs for preschool and school-aged children, and youth.

Candidates must be able to prepare and lead a wide variety of programs and activities including sports, arts and crafts, games, and out trips.  They are responsible for creating detailed lesson plans and camp itineraries, working within a camp budget and making program bookings. Candidates must have strong organizational, supervisory and interpersonal skills, the ability to implement policies and procedures, as well as to supervise and mentor other day camp leaders and volunteers. They must be able to work effectively with children, and work closely and cooperatively with parents and facility staff, while providing safe, quality camp programs.

The summer session runs between July 3 and August 31, 2018.  Leaders are expected to be available on weekdays for the entire session. Hours of work will vary according to placement and registration numbers.  This is a unionized position with varying shifts and hours from 4 hours per day up to 40 hours per week. The hourly rate is $22.41 plus 12% in lieu of benefits.  Applicants who apply will also be considered for contract camp employment.

Please note:

·  Employment is dependent upon program registration.

·         Successful applicants must be available for a 16 hour paid training course on Saturday June 23 AND Sunday June 24, 2018.

·      All candidates are required to submit a Police Record Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment. Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position. 
  
Preference will be given to candidates with previous camp experience and a minimum of 2 years working in a leadership role with children in a variety of settings such as arts and crafts, dance, sports and ESL. Successful candidates must have current Standard First Aid, CPR Level C and High Five certificates OR must have obtained these certifications before July 3, 2018.  High Five certification can be obtained by taking an eight hour course through North Vancouver Recreation and Culture.

All North Vancouver Recreation and Culture Commission employees should be prepared to work at any Commission location.
