Position Title: Group Leaders – Overnight & Day Camp

Terms: Full-Time – Seasonal Contract - (Age 17 by July 1,
2018)
Term: June 23, 2018 – August 24, 2018 or Sept 1, 2018 for
day camp staff (6 days a week)
Nature & Scope:
The Group Leader positions are
integral to the delivery of the YMCA Camps program. Group Leaders possess the
skills necessary to provide program and supervision to the campers attending
YMCA Camps. These team members should possess strong abilities in several camp
related activities, including out tripping skills (canoe and/or hiking), in
addition to demonstrated abilities to facilitate growth and group development
among young people.
Volunteer Group Leaders:
Volunteer staffing
opportunities at Camp Elphinstone are available for both Day Camp and Overnight
Camp. Volunteers receive training in many areas of camp. Volunteers are
required to participate in pre-camp training and commit to a minimum term of
one month. Candidates able to commit to a full summer position are preferred.
Volunteer Group Leaders work in
pairs and are responsible for meeting the emotional, physical, and safety needs
of a group of up to 10 campers. Group Leaders are responsible for the planning
and delivery of cabin or day camp programs. Volunteer Group Leaders may have
the opportunity to work as a lodge host to provide care and program instruction
for campers from youth-based organizations like Diabetes Canada, Moomba, and
Eureka.
Overnight Camp Group Leaders
– work for 8 weeks with children ages
5-15 in our overnight camp program
Day Camp Group Leaders – work with children ages 5-12 in the day camp program;
assist with program & camper care duties after the day camp hours (Sept 1,
2018 End Date)

Camp Elphinstone is a requirement of this position

Must attend YMCA
Camps Staff Training

Standard First
Aid and CPR-C
·
Bronze Cross (NLS
preferred)
