 | | Pathways to ScienceNEW! Pathways to Science is a free online program designed to help high school students explore career pathways and strengthen foundational scientific skills.
Held online once a month between September 2026-June 2027, hear directly from researchers and health professionals working in science and medicine. Participants will explore how scientific discoveries are made, learn about different education and career pathways, and gain insight into what it’s really like to work in research and healthcare.
This program is open to Grade 11-12 students in BC and the Yukon. Students may sign-up at any time during the series, but enrollment is limited to the first 1000 eligible participants. Registered students who attend 7 out of 10 lectures in the series will be eligible for a certificate of participation.

 | | Discovery Days in Health SciencesOrganized by the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame and hosted by BC Children's Hospital Research Institute, Discovery Days in Health Sciences is a one-day event that gives high school students the opportunity to explore a variety of career options in medicine and the health sciences. The day includes a dynamic keynote lecture, hands-on workshops, and a career panel discussion. Students gain a clear picture of what it would look like to be a health professional by interacting with researchers, clinicians and educators in their real-life work setting.
This event is scheduled for Friday, November 6, 2026. Teachers or guidance counsellors must first register their school to be contacted for student registration. School registration will open on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

|  | | Mini Med School 2026Join us for Mini Med School 2026 – Inside the Human Body, presented by Co-Deans Dr. Jonathan Bush & Dr. Kevin Harris. Together, we will take a journey through the body, exploring how it works from the inside out. Through engaging discussions and real-world connections, you will gain a deeper understanding of the science behind how our bodies operate and the many ways this knowledge is used in health and medicine.
NEW! Starting in fall 2026, Mini Med School will be open to Grade 12 students only. This change helps us manage program capacity and focus on providing a meaningful, high-quality experience for our participants. It also allows us to better support students at an important time as they prepare for what comes after high school.
This four-week lecture series will be scheduled from 6:30-8:00 pm on the following Thursdays: November 5, 12, 19 and 26. Grade 12 students from across BC and the Yukon will have two ways to participate:
Mini Med School In-Person: Interact with researchers and clinicians in-person at BC Children's Hospital.
Mini Med School Online: Engage with researchers and clinicians at BC Children's Hospital virtually in real-time.
After the application deadline, eligible students will be selected through a random draw. Being selected is not based on academic achievements, grades, or any other measure of merit. Students will also need to list a sponsor teacher to support their application.
The registration form will be posted from Monday, September 28, 2026 at 9:00AM to Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 11:59PM. Students can submit the registration form any time during this period.  | | Gairdner High School SymposiumOrganized by the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics, the Gairdner High School Symposium is a half-day event held each fall that gives secondary students and teachers the opportunity to interact with Gairdner award-winning scientists and BC Children's Hospital researchers.
This event is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2026. Grade 10-12 students can participate in-person or virtually in real-time.
The registration form will be posted for 14 days from Monday, September 14, 2026 at 9:30AM to Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 11:59PM.
