A Day in the Life of an RCMP Officer: Two-Day Workshop -February 2024 - Stay Tuned for More Info...

MULTIPLE DAY EVENT!  February 6th & 7th, 2024

A day in the life of an RCMP officer... 

​An interactive two day event in which participants learn about the many career pathways in law enforcement while solving a fictional crime!  This is a full day event where students work in groups to investigate an imaginary crime scene. From dispatch and forensics to canine units, making an arrest, court experience, and restorative justice, this interactive experience will be something to remember!    

Who is eligible?

  • Open to students in both West and North Vancouver School Districts

  • Grades 10 – 12 with an interest in Law Enforcement. 

  • Must attend both days

​​When and where is the program offered? 

  • February 6th and 7th, 2024

  • 9:00 – 3:00 pm – 5th Floor of North Vancouver School District Office

  • Possibility of walking field trip to North Vancouver RCMP detachment office, Lion's Gate Hospital and Court House

The Society for Children and Youth of BC (SCY) is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to serve as volunteer Walk Leaders for Kid Commute – a Walking School Bus (WSB) initiative. As a Walk Leader, you will play a crucial role in promoting active transportation and ensuring the safety of students walking to school. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on your community and promote healthy habits among children.

TaG Cycling workouts have been formulated from the massive archives of personal workouts of the founders on their journeys to 4 Olympic appearances and dozens of World Championships. The workouts are originally developed with input from our finest coaching mentors and Olympic cycling coaches.

Details:

  • Candidate must be energetic, hard-working, and athletic-minded and have excellent people-skills
  • Schedule7 to 10 hrs a week;  early mornings,  evenings and 2 Saturdays per month 
  • Location:  Harbourside, North Vancouver 
  • **Must have means of getting there;  Bus stop 2 blocks away.
  • Training shifts start at minimum wage; will increase as candidate takes ownership of the role
  • Duties will include greeting and assisting clients as needed, setting up & maintaining equipment, and work-spaces
  • Opportunity to learn new skills as candidates progress
